Both are popular places for beach holidays, and often tourists wonder where it is better to go, to Suda or Novy Svet. Of course, it is impossible to say which of these two resorts is better, since it all depends on your preferences and expectations. Nevertheless, below we will try to give a comparison of these two places so that you can already make the right decision and choose the right place to stay, without spending many hours searching and studying information on the Internet and guidebooks. So:
Sudak - a city on the Black Sea coast in the south-east of the Crimean Peninsula (Sudak on the map of Crimea. The population of Sudak is a little more than 16 thousand people excluding suburbs.
Sudak Bay from all sides, except the sea, is protected from the cold wind by mountain ranges, completely covered with forests of beech and Oak. The city seems to share the whole nature of the Crimean Peninsula. The territory of the city is gradually growing, it is being transformed, and therefore the number of inhabitants is increasing. As of 2015, the population in the town of Sudak was about 16,500 people, most of them Russians, Ukrainians and Crimean Tatars. Novy Svet in Crimea - urban-type settlement and suburb of Sudak. Administratively belongs to Bolshoy Sudak, located on the Black Sea coast in the southeastern part of the Crimean Peninsula, five kilometers from the center of Sudak (Novy Svet on the map of Crimea). This is a very tiny village with a population of just over a thousand people, and its area is only slightly more than one square kilometer. From the south it is covered with a ridge of the Crimean Mountains, access to the sea is represented by the shores of picturesque bays, delimited by Rocky capes. The surroundings of the village are a nature reserve. Where are the best beaches
The length of the city beach in Sudak is 2 kilometers, against half a kilometer in the Noviy Svet. But, unfortunately, despite its length, you will not be able to take advantage of the Long Beach with Sudake, since it is all divided into non-tensioned areas of 80 meters by fences and terrible concrete buns (concrete fortifications). All this does not add beauty to Sudak beach, and in this matter, of course, Novy Svet wins.
And there and there the beaches are mixed Sandy and Pebble. The sand is mostly gray, a little yellowish. Almost everywhere at the water's edge and under water pebbles. The beach is diligently cleaned and cleaned at both resorts, however, our subjective opinion is that in the Noviy Svet it is cleaner and the water is clearer.
The infrastructure on the beach is better developed in Sudak (umbrellas, sun beds, toilets, changing rooms, showers), but in the Noviy Svet everything you need on the beach is available. The variety of entertainment on the water in Sudak is much greater.
Summing up, we can say that in Sudak the beach is larger, more equipped and developed, and in the Noviy Svet it is much more beautiful and cozy.
We (the authors of the site) definitely prefer beaches in the Noviy Svet. The same opinion is shared by many vacationers who, during their holidays in Sudak, go swimming on the beach in Novy Svet by bus.
Where are the best attractions
There are few sights in Sudak, but there is one very interesting historical landmark - Sudak fortress. People come to see it with an excursion from all over the Crimea. There is also a small historical museum, a walking trail along the mountain and Cape Alchak-Kaya. At this point, the sights are exhausted.
In the Noviy Svet there are no historical sights at all, but there are many natural interesting places. These are Golitsyn health trail, Sokol Mountain, walking route and mount Karaul-Oba. If you like hiking trekking, then you will definitely like all these routes. Also in the Noviy Svet there is a champagne and wine factory "Novy Svet", for the sake of a tour of the production and cellars of which they go from the farthest corners of the Crimea.
Where is the best entertainment
Novy Svet, if you compare it with Sudak in terms of the number of attractions, is more like a village. Of course, there is something to do here, but there is not as much entertainment as in Sudak. Sudak has a very developed promenade full of entertainment at every turn, a children's amusement park (and more than one), a water park and a dolphinarium. And what is the Cypress alley with a variety of restaurants and entertainment venues. And if you want something progressive, you can go to one of the four modern nightclubs. Of course, in the Noviy Svet there is no such variety of entertainment.
Infrastructure and housing
Sudak is a much more developed city than the village of Sudak. There is a bus station (you can leave from other cities of the Crimea), public transport goes. Large shopping centers, but many small shops, supermarket PUD (former ATB).
In the Noviy Svet, there is no urban transport (and it is not needed, you can go around everything on foot), and only one suburban bus route, which is constantly crowded with passengers, connects it with the outside world – the bus station in Sudak.
The choice of accommodation and hotels in Sudak is much larger, the prices are cheaper than in the Noviy Svet. For a holiday in a comfortable hotel in the Noviy Svet will have to overpay, and the choice of private housing is small.
