Mud volcanoes "a rare geological formation. The terrain of the Taman Peninsula, on which the resorts of Golubitskaya, Taman, Kuchuguri, etc.are located, is rich in such formations, there are about a dozen of them here. Some of them are equipped for tourist visits for a fee, but there are also those that can be visited independently, and, in our opinion, they are even more interesting.
However, do not expect that you will see fountains of mud bursting out of the mouth. Although these formations do have a structure similar to Real lava volcanoes, in fact, most of them are Hills, on top of which volcanic mud flows out of the "vent" in a small stream. On some volcanoes, there may be several outflow sites, and some are in a "dormant" state, and may not spew anything at all when you visit. By the way, this mud is considered curative, and some volcanoes even equipped mud baths.
When examining, be careful: do not climb on the cone of the vent and try not to come closer to it, otherwise there is a chance to fall knee-deep into the mud, which is hidden under a thin dried crust from above. It is not hot, and nothing terrible will happen, but at best you will get your shoes dirty, and at worst you will leave it there.
Volcanoes are best visited from Golubitskaya, Kuchugur, Peresyp, Primorskiy, Taman, Temryuka. But there is no need to inspect each of them, they are all monotonous. You can choose one or two, and visit them yourself or go with a tour. Here are the most famous:
