Attention! Since 01.01.2015, the conditions for visa-free entry to Vietnam for citizens of those countries who had the right to a visa-free stay of up to 15 days have been tightened. Of the CIS countries, only citizens of the Russian Federation have this right. Now, to obtain a stamp for visa-free stay, the passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry (previously it was three months). Also, at least 30 days must have passed since the last departure from Vietnam. Learn more here...

The information is current as of January 2015.

Phu Quoc island in Vietnam is a special economic zone, and it also has special visa conditions that differ from the rest of the country. If you arrive in Phu Quoc for tourist purposes for up to 30 days, you will not need a visa. This applies to citizens of all countries, not just citizens of Russia. Upon arrival in Phu Quoc , you will simply receive a passport stamp (Visa Exemption Stamp) for a stay of 30 days. Sometimes, instead of a stamp, a sticker is pasted on the full page of the passport, similar to a visa. Of course, to take advantage of this visa relief, it is necessary to comply with certain conditions:

  • Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry.
  • The period of stay on the island of Phu Quoc should be no more than 30 days.
  • You must have return tickets or tickets to a third country.
  • During your stay in Phu Quoc , you should not visit other cities in Vietnam (should only stay on the island).
  • You must arrive in Phu Quoc on a direct flight (by plane or ship) from another country. It is also possible to arrive by connecting flight Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, but on condition that you will fly to Phu Quoc from the international terminal.

Unfortunately, this stamp is valid only on the territory of the island, and it is impossible to leave it with it. If you want to travel to mainland Vietnam from the island of Phu Quoc , you will need to obtain a visa, which can be done right here on the island by contacting travel agencies.

You can also get a visa on arrival at Phu Quoc International Airport on the same terms as at other international airports in Vietnam. Recall that for Russians, a visa on arrival in Vietnam is issued free of charge.
