Cleanest Beaches of Phu Quoc: TOP-6 verified places for ideal relaxation

Article and Section Navigation

One of the most frequent questions we are asked after our trip: "Is it true that Phu Quoc has problems with trash on the beaches?" True, but not entirely. Indeed, having traveled all over the island, we saw disappointing pictures, like on the same wild Dam Beach. But this is only one side of the coin. The other is amazing, well-maintained shores with turquoise water and white sand that make Phu Quoc famous.

In this article, we won't list all the beaches in a row. We've made a summary for you — TOP-6 of the cleanest and most well-maintained beaches of Phu Quoc, based exclusively on our personal experience. We personally swam at each of them, checked the bottom, sand and infrastructure. Our goal is for you to go exactly to the right place and get that "paradise" vacation you fly to Vietnam for.

TOP-6 clean beaches of Phu Quoc: our selection

When compiling this list, we focused primarily on the cleanliness of the sand and water, as well as the overall maintenance of the area. All these places are great for calm swimming and relaxation in ideal conditions.

  • 1. Long Beach — classic for everyone

Long Beach — perfect sand and gentle entrance to the water.

After all our searches for "secluded paradises", we confidently state: Long Beach remains the leader in the combination of cleanliness, infrastructure and beach quality. Yes, there are many people here, but it's perfectly clean here.

    • Cleanliness: The sand is regularly cleaned, hotels maintain their territory. After the wild beaches where we saw piles of trash, Long Beach seems like an oasis.
    • Infrastructure: Everything is here: sunbeds (50,000 – 80,000 dong), restaurants, bars, entertainment. The most civilized option.
    • For whom: For those who want comfort and are not ready to sacrifice cleanliness for seclusion.

Our advice: the further south along Long Beach from Duong Dong, the calmer and more spacious it is.

But important! Not all of Long Beach is ideal: along its entire length there are littered or unsuitable for swimming areas.

  • 2. Sonasea area — new comfort standard

Long Beach in the Sonasea area

If Long Beach near Duong Dong is a proven classic, then Sonasea is a modern premium format. We specifically came here to see the new resort and were pleasantly surprised.

    • Cleanliness: Everything is perfect here — the sand is sifted, the area is constantly cleaned. One of the most well-maintained sections of the coast.
    • Infrastructure: Everything is new: sunbeds, pools, green areas, restaurants. The night market and Sonasea Shopping Center are also located here.
    • For whom: For connoisseurs of modern comfort, families with children and those who like everything at hand.
  • 3. Bai Sao (Sao Beach) — snow-white sand

    Bai Sao Beach

That very beach from postcards — with white, flour-like sand and turquoise water. We came here with high expectations and were not disappointed.

    • Cleanliness: The sand is indeed dazzlingly white and clean. The sea is calm, transparent. Locals maintain order.
    • Infrastructure: There are sunbeds, umbrellas, cafes. The atmosphere is resort-like, somewhat ceremonial.
    • For whom: For connoisseurs of "postcard" views and soft sand. Ideal for photoshoots.

Warning: during high season it can be crowded here.

  • 4. Khem Beach — cozy bay

    Khem Beach

This beach in the south of the island became a pleasant discovery for us. A small crescent-shaped bay with azure water — it's really very beautiful here.

    • Cleanliness: The water in the bay is always calm and transparent. The sand is clean, the area is well-maintained. Feeling of a private paradise.
    • Infrastructure: There are sunbeds, restaurants work. Everything is more intimate and calm than on Long Beach.
    • For whom: For romantics and those seeking seclusion in a picturesque place.
  • 5. Movenpick / Cau Can hotels beach — private paradise

Movenpick Hotel beach or Cau Can

This beach in the Cau Can area is a real find for those seeking seclusion without losing comfort. We discovered it almost by accident and were charmed.

    • Cleanliness: Perfect. Since the beach is maintained by top hotels, everything is impeccable: the sand, the water, and the territory.
    • Infrastructure: All infrastructure is from the hotels. Sunbeds and towels are for guests, but anyone can access the beach.
    • For whom: For those who value privacy and comfort. Or for those who are ready to come here for a few hours of perfect relaxation.
  • 6. Starfish Beach — unique and alive

Starfish Beach — known for its marine inhabitants.

The beach in the north of the island, famous for starfish. An icon of beach holidays on Phu Quoc! But there is no area and hotels here, you need to come here during the day, like on an excursion.

    • Cleanliness: The water is transparent, the sand is clean. This is not a sterile hotel territory, but nature prevails over tourism here.
    • Infrastructure: Colorful cafes on stilts, simple sunbeds. The charm is in authenticity.
    • For whom: For lovers of natural attractions and unique photos.

⚠️ Important: starfish cannot be taken out of the water — they die. Enjoy the view without causing harm.

Main conclusion from our experience:

Don't look for "wild" beaches away from everything. As we already wrote in the big guide, instead of paradise we found piles of trash. Choose one of the 6 verified beaches above — and your vacation will be exactly as you dreamed.

What to consider when choosing a beach

  • Tides

This natural factor changes the appearance of any beach. During low tide, the water may recede, exposing the bottom. Don't be alarmed — this is normal! All beaches from our TOP-6 handle low tides normally, unlike the eastern coast where swimming during low tide is impossible.

Always check the tide schedule for perfect planning.

  • Infrastructure for comfort

    • Sunbeds: All beaches have rentals (50-80 thousand dong).
    • Changing rooms: There are none on public beaches — this is a common problem in Vietnam.
    • Entertainment: Active entertainment is available on Long Beach and in Sonasea.

Conclusions: where to go?

Phu Quoc is an island where there are clean beaches, but you need to know where to go. Our TOP-6 covers all options:

  • For first time and comfort — Long Beach or Sonasea
  • For "wow" effect and photos — Bai Sao
  • For romance and seclusion — Khem Beach or Movenpick beach
  • For unique experiences — Starfish Beach
