Description and is it worth a visit
Pearl shop of the famous large farm for its cultivation Ngoc Hien Pearl Farm is one of the attractions on the island, without which probably no excursion or independent trip around the island is complete. After all, Phu Quoc has gained fame for its pearl fishery and has been one of the first places in its cultivation for more than three decades, and Ngoc Hien Pearl Farm has played a very important role in this. It has more than 25 stores across the country, 3 of them on Phu Quoc Island.
The shop is popular with guests of the island. Only here there is a huge selection of pendants, bracelets, earrings, rings, pearl necklaces framed in gold and silver at affordable prices. Pearls are represented by sea and freshwater, both local and imported from other places. The company's novelty is cosmetics made from pearl extract. In addition to pearl jewelry, there are leather goods, silk, carved panels of shells and other souvenirs.
Even for those who did not plan to buy, it will be interesting to walk along the storefronts, listen to the history of the company's development and learn about the peculiarities of pearl cultivation in Phu Quoc.
The store employs consultants who speak Russian, so it will be easier and more understandable to communicate. If you arrive on your own, then ask the consultant for a tour of the store, then you will be taken to another hall and told in more detail about the company and the production of pearls.
Initially, the company belonged to a Japanese firm, but as a result of the economic crisis, the company went bankrupt and in 1994 it was acquired by a Vietnamese farmer, Mr. Ho Phi Tui.
The life of Mr. Ho Phi Tui was not easy, but perseverance and hard work made him a successful and wealthy man. He was born into a poor family and worked as a pearl diver to survive. Having saved a little money on pearl mining, he got a job in a Japanese company and bought a fishing boat, which became his assistant. He spent half the day diving, and the rest of the time learning from Japanese experts how to grow pearls. The work of divers is difficult and dangerous, and did not always bring the desired earnings, so he had to pawn the boat many times to survive. However, each time he bought her back. Today, this boat (but this is not accurate) is displayed in one of the halls of the store as a symbol of good luck and perseverance.
