Description and is it worth visiting
Po Nagar Cham Towers – one of the preserved pieces of evidence of the powerful Champa state that dominated the territory of Vietnam from the 7th to the 17th centuries. The towers are located on Mount Cu Lao within the city of Nha Trang and were built between the 8th and 13th centuries. This Hindu cult structure attracts many tourists interested in ancient architecture and the country's history, as well as Vietnamese people from all the surroundings.
Generally, in our opinion, although this place is very touristic and perhaps even overly "promoted," you should definitely visit it at least once. And annually at the end of March according to the lunar calendar, the Po Nagar Festival is held here. This is a very colorful event in which you can participate or simply watch from the sidelines. It's better to find out the exact dates in advance on-site or on local websites, as they may change.
The complex consists of four towers, the largest of which is dedicated to the goddess Ponagar, who taught people crafts and agriculture. The tower's pediment is decorated with an image of the goddess, and inside is her statue. All towers are well restored, the facades are decorated with various figures of gods, geese, etc.
From the upper platform where the towers are located, there is a beautiful view of the river and the center of Nha Trang, and on the other side of the northern part of the city. There is also a small artificial pond framed in the style of a "rock garden." Next to it is an exhibition hall with photographs, documents, and some exhibits telling about various historical stages and conservation work of the Cham Towers. Of course, enterprising Vietnamese have organized a cafe and paid toilet on the temple grounds.
A necessary condition when visiting any of the temples is appropriate clothing (covered shoulders and knees, no headgear). This is thought out here, and if you wish, they will lend you a robe (free of charge). But you only need to wear it if you want to enter one of the towers directly, and if you just want to walk around the territory, you do not need to cover your shoulders and knees. By the way, there is practically nothing to see inside the towers, and the interest is rather the feeling of being in such an ancient place.
Exploring the towers will take no more than 30 minutes. Also, if you're lucky, you can see a musical performance with traditional dances, held daily at approximately 16:00. Considering that the place is popular among tourists, it's worth coming early to avoid crowds of tour groups.

🚶 How to get there
The complex is located not far from the tourist area of Nha Trang (tower location on Nha Trang map). You can get here on foot via the bridge over the Cai River in about 30 minutes. Also, from the tourist area, you can get here by bus #4 or taxi for 50,000 dong when ordering through Grab or Maxim apps. Read all details about Nha Trang transport and how to get around in a separate guide here.
If you decide to come here on a rented motorbike, you will have to leave it in a paid parking lot for 4000 dong (parking entrance is to the left of the entrance). But for cars, there is no parking space; you will have to leave the car somewhere in the alleys nearby and walk to the tower entrance on foot. There is a good spot under the bridge. To do this, when coming from the center, immediately after crossing the bridge and opposite the tower entrance, you need to turn very sharply to the right, and there you will see parking spaces.
