Nakhimov Square is not a very interesting tourist attraction, but an important landmark in the city center and the starting point of many tourist routes. You can even say that this is a kind of "tourist heart of the city", because nearby there are several important city attractions and walking areas Grafskaya Embankment, Kornilov Embankment, park on Primorsky Boulevard, Matrossky Boulevard and others. Important city events, concerts and rallies are also held on Nakhimov Square.
The square itself is not very large and partially pedestrian, i.e. part of it is allocated to the parking area during normal times (not on holidays). There is also one of the symbols of the city – a monument to Admiral Nakhimov. Nakhimov is an outstanding Russian admiral and naval commander, a hero of the Russian-Turkish war, who gave his life during the defense of the city. He died on the Malakhov mound in 1855 from a head wound, and was buried in the crypt St. Vladimir's Cathedral, which today can be visited as a tourist attraction with an excursion.
