General information and holidays in Marino
Marino (Mar'ino) is a settlement on the western coast of Crimea on the Tarkhankut Peninsula, 80 kilometers from Yevpatoria and 150 kilometers from Simferopol and the airport (Marino on the map of Crimea). Officially, Marino is a very tiny village with a population of just over 100 people and consisting of several dozen houses and several streets. But in the summer, when the high tourist season begins, the number of the village grows several times due to visitors and vacationers.
It is worth noting that in Crimea there is another village of Maryino in Dzhankoy district and the village of Maryevka in Leninsky district, and they are sometimes confused with Maryino on the West Bank. Other settlements with this name are not on the coast and are not resorts.
Holidays in Marino
Marino is considered a beach resort on the Black Sea coast, although, of course, it is difficult to call it a real resort. The fact is that the infrastructure for recreation here is very poorly developed, there is no entertainment and attractions, and therefore rest here is suitable only for the most unassuming tourists, if you do not need anything else besides the beach and a quiet village environment. Therefore, most often those who have visited these parts of the peninsula more than once come here to change the situation and take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. And today it is one of the few "wild" places in the Crimea, where you can still safely develop a camp and relax in a tent on the shore. Of course, the tents are not put in Marino itself, but on the neighboring beaches, which stretch along the shore in both directions from the village.
The main reasons to come on vacation in Marino are the local beaches and the excellent ecology of these places. Industrial enterprises and ports are very far away, and therefore the water and air here are considered one of the cleanest in the Crimea. The village is surrounded by steppes, there are no mountains and an abundance of greenery, as on the southern coast of the Crimea, here.
Marino has Pebble and sandy beaches. Sandy beaches consist of fine yellow, almost white sand, and even received the popular name "Crimean Maldives". At the same time, the best of them are not located within the village, but a little further along the shore beyond it, and they will have to be reached on foot along the shore or even drive a couple of kilometers by car. And directly in the village the beach is narrow, with stones and algae, and even located under a steep cliff, where you still need to manage to go down.
Pebble beaches here are not at all the same as in the resorts of the South Caucasus: pebbles are large, sometimes with sharp corners or mixed with pointed stones, and on the shore and under water there are huge stone boulders.
There is no infrastructure and lifeguards on the local beaches, they are completely wild. Therefore, everything you need for a comfortable beach holiday should be taken with you. Well, one more feature-almost everywhere along the coast there is a cliff, especially in the very center of Marino, so choose a place to rest with caution, so as not to be under an accidental collapse.
As we have already mentioned, the infrastructure in Marino is still very poorly developed. There are a couple of village shops and stalls selling fresh fruit, vegetables and meat in season. You can pay for purchases only in cash, there is no ATM. The nearest ATMs are in Olenevka (20 kilometers) and in the Chernomorskoe (20 kilometers). The nearest large supermarkets, market and shops of industrial goods and electronics are also in the Chernomorskoe. However, if you get here by car and need to buy something on the way, it is best to make a stop on the way to Yevpatoria, where you can buy everything you need and withdraw money.
For tourists in Marino there is a cafe-restaurant, a bar with billiards and darts, massage, and this is where all tourist entertainment ends. Excursions to the sights of the Crimea from Marino are not sent, and therefore they will have to go to Okunevka, Olenevka or Chernomorskoye.
✔ Advantages of the resort
- There are sandy and pebble beaches.
- Even in the peak season, the beaches are deserted, there are few vacationers.
- Quiet and peaceful, almost rustic.
- Low prices for accommodation.
❌ Disadvantages of the resort
- It is very difficult to reach by public transport, it is better to go by private car.
- Urban and tourist infrastructure is very poorly developed.
- There is no entertainment and attractions, excursions are not sold.
- It is difficult to book accommodation online.
Hotels and accommodation in Marino, where to stay
Marino has surprisingly many accommodation options. Basically, these are very simple guest houses like a campsite or private housing, which is massively rented by local residents. You can even rent a whole holiday home. But the level of service in local accommodation options is the most basic, so be prepared for the fact that you even have to clean the room yourself. Television and the internet are only in rare cases.
A special vacation spot worth mentioning separately is Eco-settlement "Morskoe". "Morskoe" is located a couple of kilometers from the village on the seashore in the direction of Olenevka. This is something like a campsite with a modern concept of an eco-resort.
Unfortunately, the big problem of the resort is that it is almost impossible to find and book accommodation in Marino online through booking systems. Therefore, you will most often have to plan a vacation here through friends, through old contacts with the owners or find contacts on bulletin boards. Booking in this case takes place by phone. Only a few guest houses and campsites are present in the booking systems, and they belong to Olenevka or Okunevka.

If you do not have your own transport, you can get here by plane through Simferopol airport or by train through Yevpatoria with a taxi transfer. Theoretically, it is possible to get there by suburban buses, but this is not very convenient for recreation. Let's talk about everything in a little more detail:

From the airport it is best to go by taxi, which will cost from 3000 rubles. If you have booked accommodation in advance, you can try to arrange a transfer from the airport with the owners of the accommodation or guest house.
If a taxi is expensive, you can take a bus, but only if it suits you according to the schedule. To do this, from the airport on city trolleybuses or buses you need to get to the bus station "Kurortnaya", it is also Simferopol AC-2. From this bus station once a day at 08:45 a bus departs to the Chernomorskoe and on the way calls in Marino. The fare starts from 600 rubles, the journey is almost 4 hours. The bus from Chernomorskoye to Simferopol departs at 13 o'clock and passes through Maryino at 14 o'clock.
If you prefer a train, not a plane, then you need to go to the nearest railway station of Yevpatoria, which is 80 kilometers or an hour and a half away. Yevpatoria railway station can be reached by direct trains from Moscow and St. Petersburg, and from other cities and regions with a transfer to the train through Simferopol. Here's the schedule:

From the railway station of Evpatoria to Marino you can take a taxi from 2000 rubles, or in extreme cases take a local bus, which once a day at 16:20 departs from Evpatoria to Okunevka and Olenevka. This bus does not call in the village itself, but makes a stop on the outskirts, from where you have to walk a little.
Attractions in Marino, what to see and do
In the village there are no interesting places and tourist attractions, excursions are not sold. The owners of some guest houses and recreation centers can offer you an individual tour of the immediate vicinity by car, but such a trip will be quite expensive. If you need an inexpensive group tour, then you will have to go to Olenevka, Chernomorskoye or Okunevka, where you can buy relatively inexpensive excursions not only to the nearest attractions, but also to more remote places in the Crimea. Of course, you will first have to go and book a tour, and therefore the next day again come there at the time of departure.
If you come to rest in Marino on your car, you can spend time much more interesting and visit interesting places in the vicinity or throughout the Crimea on your own. Since the village is located on the territory of the Tarkhankut peninsula, we advise you to start with visiting the sights of the Tarkhankut natural park, all the most interesting sights and beauty are located on a twenty-kilometer stretch of coast towards Olenevka, along which a rolled dirt road passes. And in Olenevka itself you can buy excursions-dives for beginners and professionals in one of the diving clubs. If you suddenly do not know yet, the waters along the shores of the Tarkhankut Peninsula are considered the most interesting in the whole Crimea for scuba diving.
If you are interested in historical and archaeological sites, then you should definitely go 20 kilometers to the Chernomorskoe, where there is a good Local History Museum and an open-air Archaeological Museum ancient Greek settlement "Kalos Limen". If you drive a little further to the resort Mezhvodnoye, there you can visit the remains of another settlement "Panskoe", and fix your health with the therapeutic mud of Lake Dzharylgach. Another archaeological site, the excavations of the Pontic fortress Kulchuk, are located 18 kilometers on the shore near the village of Gromovo. We also recommend setting aside at least one day to go to Evpatoria and get acquainted with its sights.
