What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting

Local History Museum-Reserve "Kalos Limen" and lapidarium in the Chernomorskoe is the main regional museum. We recommend that you visit it without fail and first of all before you go to get acquainted with the settlement of Kalos Limen, the ruins of the "Pansky" settlement in Mezhvodnoye and other historical places in the Chernomorskoe region.

The Kalos Limen museum-reserve consists of three branches: an open-air settlement; two classical museums, the Local History Museum and the lapidarium. Local history and lapidarium are located in the same building on Revolution Street, 8, while the settlement is located in another part of the city on the shore. The Local History Museum is small, but very informative to visit. Quite recently, a complete reconstruction has been carried out here, and therefore you will be pleasantly surprised by the excellent condition and, although small, but neatly presented collection of exhibits, which in traditional form tells about the history of the region from different periods. Perhaps the most interesting section in the museum is devoted to the history of these places before our era, which was so rich in events and left a lot of artifacts that filled the collection of this and other museums. After all, on the territory of the present Chernomorskoye region there are more than a dozen settlements and mounds formed and existing during the existence of the ancient Greek state with the capital Chersonesos. There is also an ethnographic section about life and culture, and the period of the Second World War.

In the same building, with a separate entrance and for a fee, you can visit the permanent exhibition-lapidarium, which presents a large collection of sculptures and artifacts found during archaeological excavations in the area. An independent visit to the lapidarium is impossible, only with excursion accompaniment.
