Villa Blanche, White Villa or Bach Dinh (Villa Blanche, White Villa or Bach Dinh) is one of the architectural and historical sights of the city. This is a beautiful mansion located on a hill with scenic views of the surrounding area. The place is really unique and noteworthy. Tourist groups from Ho Chi Minh City can often be found here.
The villa is surrounded by a well-kept park with shady trees, where you can walk and enjoy your vacation. The snow-white facade of the building gave him the name "White Villa" among the locals. The architecture is made in the classic French style of the XIX century and includes three floors, including a basement. The second floor balcony offers a magnificent view of the sea and the beach.
Inside Villa Blanche there is an exhibition of antiques: a collection of porcelain, statues, portraits of Greek antiquity, furniture and interior items, pottery, cannons and other valuable exhibits. Many of them were recovered from sunken ships off the island of Kondao (Con Dao) or discovered during archaeological excavations in the province of Baria-Vung Tau. It is this exposition and the building itself that attract many tourists here.
The White Palace was built in the period from 1898 to 1902 as a summer residence for the Governor-General of Indochina of French origin – Paul Dumer. The name of the villa is associated with the name of Dumer's daughter Blanche. Subsequently, other representatives of the Vietnamese political elite also rested here. From 1906 to 1917, the villa was used as a prison for the last emperor of the Vietnamese feudal dynasty, who was kept here under house arrest. After 1975, the building was converted into a museum.
