Description and is it worth a visit
Ba Ria–Vung Tau Provincial Museum or simply Vung Tau Museum (Ba Ria-Vung Tau Museum) is the only historical museum in the city of Vung Tau. Despite its provincial status, the museum is modern, large, interesting and multifaceted. We recommend visiting this place to anyone who is at least a little interested in the history and culture of Vietnam. We have visited almost all Vietnam museums throughout the country, and we can say that this one is one of the best provincial and one of the largest.
The museum is relatively new, it was opened in 2020. The exposition is located on four floors of the building and includes thousands of unique artifacts covering the period from ancient times to the present. The architecture of the museum resembles a snow-white ship cutting through the waves, which symbolizes the connection of the province with the sea.
The museum exhibits are divided into thematic sections. They reflect the history of the peoples inhabiting the province of Baria-Vung Tau, archaeological finds, the events of the Vietnam War (1955-1975) and the liberation movement. Among the exhibits are documents, photographs, household items, artifacts recovered from sunken ships, as well as weapons. In the collection you can also see Soviet samples of weapons and equipment.
The museum's exhibition halls are spacious, air-conditioned and stylishly decorated. Information about the exhibits and events is presented in Vietnamese and English. Guided tours are available by prior request.
An 8-minute walk from the museum, on a hill, is Villa Blanche, a visit to which can be combined with a visit to the Vung Tau Museum.
