Description and is it worth a visit
Vung Tau Lighthouse Hai Dang is one of the oldest lighthouses in Southeast Asia and one of the must–see attractions in Vung Tau. It is located about 1 km northwest in a straight line from the statue of Jesus on the top of Mount Nuino (Nui Nho or Tao Fung).
The Vung Tau Hai-Dang lighthouse was built by the French in 1862, and in 1913 it was rebuilt, retaining its original appearance, and moved to its current location. The height of the structure is 18 meters, and the width of the base is about 3 meters. The lighthouse is still functioning and illuminates the surrounding area at a distance of up to 55 km. Inside there is a spiral staircase leading to the upper landing, which offers a stunning view of the surroundings and the city, but, unfortunately, it is impossible to get there now, access is prohibited. Nevertheless, the lighthouse itself and the observation deck near it are a favorite place for photo shoots, especially on weekends there are a lot of visitors here.
The road to the lighthouse runs along a good paved road surrounded by shady thickets of trees and shrubs, which allows you to hide from the sun. The ascent is gentle, so it's easy to get there both by rented transport and on foot, but it's a long way to go. Along the way, there are cafes with local cuisine. At the foot of the lighthouse there is another area with a cafe serving the famous local yogurt (from 10,000 DONG) and other traditional dishes. Nearby you can see the French bunker of the late XIX century.
🕐 Working hours
The observation deck of the lighthouse is open daily from 7:00 to 22:00. The approach to the lighthouse itself is closed.

🚶 How to get there
The lighthouse is located on the big peak of Mount Nuino (lighthouse on the map of Vung Tau). It can be reached on foot via Hai Dang Road, but you will have to walk 3 kilometers and gain a height of about 150 meters, and this is the height of 50 floors!!! You can also drive directly to the lighthouse on a rented motorbike or car (parking – 5,000 VND), or take a taxi. A taxi when ordering through the Grab app will cost from 30,000 to 80,000 thousand here (1.14-3.04 USD), mototaxi is twice as cheap.
Important! There is a road on the maps connecting the two peaks of the mountain, and theoretically it is possible to walk from statues of Jesus to the Lighthouse or back. We tried to walk through it, but everything is blocked by fences and forbidding signs, presumably this is a closed military zone.
