How to get from Moscow to Hanoi cheaper

To get to Vietnam, tourists usually have to choose one of the flight options: to Hanoi, to Ho Chi Minh City, and now there is a direct flight to Nha Trang. One of the most popular and cheapest air routes between Russia and Vietnam is flightMoscow-Hanoi. It should not be considered as an option if you want to get to the southern beaches of Vietnam, such as Nha Trang, Phan Thiet (Mui Ne) or Vung Tau. But, if you want to tour North Vietnam and visit Sapa, Halong Bay, Hanoi itself, and then, perhaps, go further to Central or southern Vietnam, flying from Moscow to Hanoi directly may be the most reasonable option.

Direct scheduled flights on this route are carried out only by two airlines: Russian Aeroflot (from Sheremetyevo) and the largest Vietnam Airlines (from Domodedovo). The duration of the direct flight Moscow-Hanoi-a little more than 9 hours. The cost of a round-trip flight on average is from 28,000 rubles (2018 prices). Approximately once or twice a year, these airlines sell tickets in this direction and flight prices are reduced to 26,000 rubles, but there is no information and no guarantee that these sales will be. However, the shortest flight option does not mean the cheapest. You can also get from Moscow to Hanoi with a transfer, and in most cases cheaper than a direct flight. Such flights are almost always offered by Qatar airways (transfer to Doha, Qatar), Cathay Pacific (transfer to Hong Kong), China Southern (transfer to Guanzhou, China). The cost of flights Moscow-Hanoi-Moscow with a transfer is an average of 27,000 rubles (2018 prices). For flights with transfers, you need to carefully select flights, since the duration of the flight and the time of docking at the airport can be very long. In Hanoi, planes arrive at Hanoi Noi Bai International Airport, located about 45 kilometers from the city. This is a fairly modest airport in size and passenger traffic, given that all international flights with tourists planning to visit the north of Vietnam arrive here.

Unfortunately, despite the availability of good and inexpensive transportation from Hanoi airport to Hanoi City, there are virtually no opportunities to travel directly from the airport to other cities in North Vietnam by land. The only option is to take a taxi, which will be quite expensive. Therefore, if you plan to get on arrival from Moscow to Hanoi somewhere further, in any case, you will have to first come to the city of Hanoi, and from there to recover further by bus or train.
