Description and is it worth visiting
10 kilometers from Sapa is the Silver Waterfall - Thac Bac. The waterfall's height is 100 meters, and it is the largest and most famous in the area around the town. Unfortunately, in the dry season, the waterfall's fame and popularity far outstrip its beauty, as at this time it's not particularly impressive. However, in the rainy season, its appearance is worth the long trip. About a kilometer further, right by the road, there's a small waterfall, Thac Diên.
Infrastructure is organized near the waterfall: there's a small market and something to eat, a paid parking lot. The climb to the top of the waterfall is via convenient stairs, with rest shelters equipped along the way. A bridge has also been built across the waterfall, offering the best view for photography.
🕐 Opening Hours
Access to the waterfall is open from 06:30 to 19:30.
💵 Entrance Fee / Ticket Price
Access to the waterfall is paid, 70,000 VND (2.66 USD, see all about Vietnamese money and exchange rates).
🚶 How to Get There
The waterfall is located about 10 kilometers north of Sapa (Thac Bac on the map) right by the road on the way to the Tram Ton Pass. You can get here on a tour or by rented transport. The waterfall is included in the program of tours climbing Fansipan and to Heaven's Gate. When approaching by motorbike, you'll be intercepted right on the road, inviting you to the paid parking lot near the market. You don't have to agree and pay 10,000 VND. You can drive another 50 meters to the entrance to the waterfall and leave the motorbike right on the shoulder; it will be perfectly visible from the waterfall.
