Description and is it worth a visit
The name of this stream translates literally as Fairy Stream (Fairy stream or Suoi Tien), but it is also called red stream. the red canyon or the magic river (or, as the sign installed here in Russian says, "magic mountain river"). This is a small river that runs along the bottom of a sandy canyon through a bamboo and palm forest, and flows into the sea at Mui Ne Beach.
This is a good place to get to know a little about the nature of Vietnam not from a distance of photographing, but a little closer. Usually people come to the stream to walk along it or along it right on the water. The depth of the stream is small and the whole of it can be waded through, wetting only the feet. True, in some places the water reaches up to the knee, but the depth can be easily bypassed. The water in the stream is very warm. In some places you can climb up the canyon walls and walk along the river along the top.
At the very end of the stream, after about a kilometer and a half from the beginning, you will come up against a small conditional waterfall, from which the stream is formed. There is no point in going further than the waterfall, there is nothing to see there.
Don't let it scare you if you see dirt and debris near the stream at the beginning of the journey. You need to go a little further, and everything will become cleaner. You will also be offered the help of guides by local children, of course, for a fee, but there will be no benefit from them, it is impossible to get lost here, so you can safely refuse. But keep in mind that they do it kind of unobtrusively, but a little cunningly: just clinging to you at the beginning of the journey and chatting with you. Tell them you don't need a guide, and then they'll back off. If you don't, they will harass you until you give them money. And yet, at the very beginning of the stream, you can leave your shoes, but you will have to pay for their safety again. So you can take a bag with you and put the shoes there, and then in the backpack.
In general, this place is quite interesting and picturesque and worth a visit, especially considering that there is nothing else to see in the resort area of Mui Ne besides the Fairy Stream.
🕐 Working hours
Around the clock, but it's best to walk here on a good sunny day, that's when the canyon opens up in all its glory.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
Previously, the entrance fee was 15,000 VND(0.57 USD, see the currency of Vietnam and the exchange rate), admission is free in 2025. If the entrance fee is reintroduced, then there is no problem getting to the stream for free by going down to it from the other side of the road and passing under the bridge. You will have to pay a tip for the safety of your shoes or the accompaniment of guides from among the local boys, but you can also refuse these services.
🚶 How to get there
Fairy Creek is located in the eastern part of the resort area of Muinei on the way to the village (fairy creek on the map). The beginning of the route is at the bridge over this stream on the main road. Here you need to go down to the stream along one of several stairways, and then go upstream right through the water until you get bored, or to the very end of the route to the waterfall.
You can get to the beginning of the route along the Fairy Creek on foot if your hotel is located nearby. If you come here by rented transport or bicycle, you can leave it at one of the cafes next to the bridge for a fee of 5000 DONG or free of charge on the side of the road.
You can also get here from anywhere in the resort area of Mui Ne or from the center of Phan Thiet by city bus number 1. These buses run every 30-40 minutes. You can stop the bus anywhere by hand. He goes to the turn to the towers, from where he will have to walk 500 meters to the complex. Ask the driver, he will drop you off where you need to. The fare is 8 000 – 20 000 depending on the distance, but get ready to pay the maximum of 20,000 at once (0.76 USD), as much as they usually try to take from tourists.
