Ta Cu Mountain, Reclining Buddha statue and Linh Son Trong Pagoda are quite far from the resort of Mui Ne and the center of Phan Thien, but it's definitely worth getting there. It is safe to say that this place is the most interesting of the attractions in the vicinity. The height of the mountain is 694 meters, and the temperature at the top is several degrees lower than at the bottom, although you are unlikely to feel it.
Mount Taku seems to include several attractions at once: natural landscapes and wild jungles, a cable car, the Linh Son Trong Pagoda pagoda and the largest reclining Buddha statue (49 meters long) in Vietnam. It is thanks to the pagoda and the Buddha statue that the cable car appeared here, moreover, it is intended not so much for tourists as for local residents. The fact is that among Buddhist believers this place is considered sacred and pilgrimages are made here. There is a restaurant on the top near the pagoda. Those who wish can spend the night in the hostel (guesthouse) upstairs.
How to visit Mount Taku and the Big Buddha Pagoda in Mui Ne
You can climb to the top by cable car. At the foot of the mountain, where the ascent and the cable car begin, a whole complex is organized. There is a guarded parking lot, a lot of souvenir shops, a beautiful garden, and even has its own public transport – small electric vehicles that carry visitors from the entrance to the territory to the cable car station.
The cable car ride opens up picturesque views of the surrounding area. The way to the top on it takes no more than 10 minutes. It is at the top that all the most interesting things are located. There is a complex of temples and pagodas, statues, and construction continues today. After inspecting the buildings of the temples, it is necessary to climb even higher, where on the mountainside there is a large statue of a reclining Buddha 49 meters long hidden by tree trunks. It's so huge that it doesn't even fit into the lens of most cameras, so you'll only have to photograph it from the side.
And for hiking enthusiasts, the idea of climbing on foot through a real wild jungle may be interesting. But keep in mind that the ascent will be very laborious and time-consuming. It will take 1-2 hours, even if you are in good physical shape. You need to climb in good sports or hiking shoes, take water, a raincoat, and insect spray with you. It is very important to start climbing before 14 o'clock, otherwise you may not have time to go down in the daytime, and walking along the mountain path through the rainforest is a so-so idea. The cost of visiting Mount Ta Ku and the Linh Son Trong Pagoda differs depending on the type of tickets you choose at the box office. You can purchase only an entrance ticket for 50 000 VND adult / 30 000 children (for climbing on foot) or a complex ticket that includes an entrance fee, an electric car and a cable car ascent/descent for 250 000 (6.08 USD, see the currency of Vietnam and its exchange rate). 🚶 How to get there
Mount Taku is located 30 kilometers southwest of Phan Thiet (mountain on Phan Thiet map). From Mui Ne, excursions to the mountain are offered, some of which include visits to the Pitahaya plantations and the Ke Ga Lighthouse along the way.
