Description and is it worth a visit

Dalat railway station

The Da Lat Railway Station has several descriptions at once with the prefix "the most", namely the most beautiful and highest mountain in Vietnam, the oldest in Indochina, as well as the only place in Vietnam where a steam locomotive has been preserved and there is a unique toothed railway 16 km long. It is noteworthy that here on the railway tracks there is a Soviet steam locomotive, many of which are photographed. The station is located near the center, you can reach it on your own, even on foot.

Initially, it served a railway with a length of 84 kilometers, but in 1964, due to damage as a result of military operations, it was closed. Only in 1991 the road was partially restored (only 7 kilometers), and now it allows you to make a historic trip by old train to the village of Chaimat (Traimat, Trai Mat), from where you can also visit Linh Phuoc pagoda (Linh Phuoc Pagoda).

The station roof with three domes symbolizes the peaks of the highest in Dalat Langbiang Mountain.

Unfortunately, it is impossible to get closer and inspect the station building for free because of the fence. Only by buying a ticket, you can go to the territory and see the same train, take some photos, drink coffee and buy souvenirs. That's all, there is no museum or other exhibits in the station building. We recommend that you visit this place only in order to make a little adventure on an old train, otherwise there is nothing to do here.

Useful information to visit

  • The departure time of the train may change frequently, you need to check directly on the spot.
  • The ticket price depends on the type of carriage (VIP, hard or soft seat).
