Description and is it worth a visit
Viharamahadevi Park (Vihara Maha Devi Park) or Victoria Park is the oldest and largest urban park in Colombo, located in Kurunduwatta or Cinnamon Gardens. It got its name in honor of the mother of the liberator king Dutugamundu (Dutugamunu), who ruled Sri Lanka from 161 BC to 137 BC.e. The Park was founded by the British in the XIX century. and until 1950 had a different name – Victoria (Victoria Park) (in honor of the English Queen).
Viharamahadevi Park is a very popular place not only among locals, but also, due to the accumulation of a certain part of interesting sights, among tourists. The park area is planted with shrubs and flower beds, equipped with fountains, shady alleys with gazebos, there is a small lake, a children's playground, a mini zoo and an arboretum, a stage for performances.
Next to the park is the new Town Hall Town Hall, inside which the municipality of the city and other government agencies are located. It is impossible to visit the town hall, but it has a very picturesque view from the park, which has become one of the business cards of Colombo. National Museum, Natural History Museum, Public Library, Art Gallery. In general, this is a great place for walking and relaxing and one of the cleanest and most well-groomed places in the whole city.
Unfortunately, like most other places in Colombo, the park is very poorly lit in the evening and becomes a rather dangerous place.

🚶 How to get there
Located in Colombo 7 or Cinnamon Gardens (park on Colombo map). This is the center of the city, but a little away from the conventional tourist area of Colombo Fort.
