How to apply for an electronic visa to Sri Lanka

Electronic visa to Sri Lanka is called ETA (Electronic Travel Authority), and is issued on the website srilankaevisa.lk, and there is also paid by plastic card. The site has Russian, but all the design takes place in the English interface.

The cost of registration is 50 US dollars, but a 4% Commission is added to this amount. You can pay for it with any plastic card of Visa, Mastercard, American Express systems.

After payment at the last step, you will receive an email notification that the application has been accepted, but this is not the permission itself. After that, you need to wait for the ETA itself within 24 hours.

At the same time, judging by the reviews on the internet, due to the poor performance of the site, there are cases of not receiving a response at all, writing off twice the amount (at different intervals) and other similar troubles. Therefore, carefully monitor and check debits from your card, contact the Department of Immigration and emigration (by e-mail specified in the "Contact Us" section on the website). eta.gov.lk) or call the consular section of the embassy in Moscow.

If you can not get an answer, print out your application form, try to get a printout from the bank about the write-off (indicating your name in Latin and passport number), and go to Sri Lanka. Registration of ETA takes no more than 5 minutes. Here is a step by step instruction:

1. Go to the application page - https://online.srilankaevisa.lk/. On this page, you will see the terms and agreements you need to accept. In short, they indicate that you yourself are responsible for incorrectly filled data.

   

2. On the next page you need to select the type of visa. Offered options: tourist, business, transit. And also each type is broken down into individual design, for tourist groups or third parties. Depending on your situation, choose the type you need.

   For a regular tourist visit, you must select the topmost item: Apply for an Individual.

   

3. You will be taken to the form where you will need to enter all the necessary data, and select options.

   Attention! It is very important not to make mistakes. Check everything carefully and fill in the data exactly as in the passport.

   Everything is filled in Strictly in Latin (English letters), dates are selected through the calendar. Do not be surprised: the format of dates in Sri Lanka is different, first comes the month, then the day, then the year. Required fields are marked with an asterisk. Here is a transcript of the important fields:

   • Surname/Family Name* - last name as in the passport.
   • Other/Given Names* - name as in passport.
   • Title * - Request. Select Mr. (male) / Ms. (female) from the list.
   • Gender* - gender. Select Male (Male) / Female (Female) from the list.
   • Nationality* - choose a nationality from the list.
   • Country of Birth* - country of birth, select from the list.
   • Passport Number* - passport number. Enter without a space.
   • Passport Issued Date* - passport issue date.
   • Passport expiration Date * - passport expiration date.
   • Section Child information in parent's passport – filled in if you are followed by children entered in your passport, and they do not have their own passport.
   • Intended Arrival Date* - date of arrival in the country.
   • Purpose of Visit* - purpose of the visit. Choose Sightseeing or Holidays from the list.
   • Address Line 1* - your home address in your country of residence.
   • City* - Your City in the country of residence.
   • State* - your region, region in the country of residence.
   • Country* - select your country of residence from the list.
   • Address in Sri Lanka* - the address where you plan to live in Sri Lanka. Just enter the name of the hotel and city.
   • Email Address * - valid email address where you will receive notification and permission.

   

4. On the next page, you can additionally check all the data and confirm their correctness.

   

5. After confirmation, you will be taken to the payment method selection page. Choose which card you will pay with Visa/Mastercard or American Express.

   

6. Once you select your payment method, you will be taken to the credit card data entry form, where everything is done as usual.

   

7. Well, after payment on the screen you will receive information about the successful acceptance of the application and its number, which should be recorded for possible further "analysis" with the support service if something goes wrong.

   

8. Now it remains only to wait for the confirmation email. It will be just a text with the data you entered, but not on the official letterhead. In principle, after that, you can safely go and present your passport at the border, where you will be stamped and pasted a sticker with the date, but you can print the letter just in case, so that it is easier to find information if problems arise.
