Should I go to Sri Lanka

I have already mentioned in the reviews that I was not thrilled with my trip to Sri Lanka, and this is to put it mildly. Maybe I was so unlucky on my route, but I was left with quite a few negative memories. I don't want to impose my point of view on anyone, but I just want to warn those who are going to travel to Sri Lanka for the first time that everything is not as smooth there as, for example, in the benchmark for independent travelers-Thailand. I tried to briefly explain why you should not go to Sri Lanka, and why you should go. Once again, this is my personal opinion and I do not impose it on anyone, but I personally made such conclusions for myself.

Why not go to Sri Lanka and why I won't go there (at least not yet):

• Little fruit. Maybe I'm out of Season (December), but Abundance exotic fruits, as in the same Tae, I did not see here. And the prices sometimes did not please, especially in tourist areas they are just speculative, and without any chance of bargaining.
• Prices for hotels and meals are high. I met only unrealistically dirty hotels and gests at the prices of good hotels in Thailand. And I lived here in no less than 10 places. A good hotel at a reasonable price I got only Unawatuna, but it was still an unfinished hotel, so the prices were lower than the others.
• The food is disgusting. Everything is monotonous and tasteless. In the local eateries, the sanitary conditions sometimes made me sick, especially when I came across fish bones in a dish of chicken.
• Prices for famous attractions are unrealistically high. $ 30 per visit Sigiriya! Are you kidding? I was really disappointed with what I saw for such money.
• For visiting temples (and I love to see temples) everywhere they take money. Where there is no entrance fee, they begin to extort donations. I certainly don't mind donating some money to rebuild the temples. But sometimes donations are simply extorted, and curses are shouted at the back for giving too little.… Somehow it's not Buddhist.
• Sights are ugly. In general, I was disappointed with the beauty of Sri Lankan temples and other attractions.
• A lot of all sorts of restrictions like "do not go there, do not look here, do not park here."
• A lot of scammers and extortionists. I used to think there were a lot of them in Vietnam. After Sri Lankan, Vietnamese crooks are children.
• In general, boring, no party. There is practically no nightlife, discos, noisy bars.
• Problems with alcohol. buying a cold bottle of beer in the evening to sit on the balcony in the room, or watch the sunset on the beach is a problem. Alcohol is sold only in special stores, where I never managed to buy cold beer. The price, by the way, is not cheap. Cold beer can only be bought in cafes, where it costs even more.
• I didn't like the weather. The weather and seasons are a mess. Completely confused, where are the seasons, and when is it better to go. What I saw in a month-constant changes in the weather, the sky is covered with a cloud. During the day, the weather can change from cloudy to sunny five times.
• Big waves. I'm not a swimmer, give me calm water, like in the pool. And here the ocean waves are everywhere.

Why you should go to Sri Lanka

• Lots of tea. Yes, if you like tea, then you should definitely go here to drink the best Ceylon tea and buy it home. Do not take local coffee - a real "poop".
• A new place. If everyone has already traveled and is tired of everything, then why not go to Sri Lanka.
• An underdeveloped tourist place. If you want to brag that you have visited places where foreign tourists have not been except for you, then you can find such places here.
