The impression was that most Lankans are very sneaky and cunning. Only some of those who are interested in your money or positive reviews on the Internet behave not meanly and courteously, i.e. these are usually hoteliers. But even among them there are still those scammers, so it is better to pay in advance and not give passports.

A Lankan will never miss a tourist without a queue, and often they just climb ahead, pushing tourists away. Young people behave generally unceremoniously (especially not sober), sometimes defiantly spits at the feet of tourists, makes indecent gestures and smacking sounds to girls, even if they are not alone.

Even children treat tourists with great disrespect. So, one day we wandered in Negombo along the beach to the area where fishermen live. A group of children, 3-5 years old, for fun began to pick up dog or someone's poop from the sand and throw it at us. I had to quickly escape from there. Nothing like this has ever happened to us anywhere.

The police, too, in most cases, angrily look at tourists. Often check documents and try to extort money.

There were also serious incidents. So in December 2011 in Tangalla killed a British tourist and raped and beat his Russian wife. At the same time, no one was punished for the incident (and among the main suspects was the head of the local administration and a politician).

The attitude towards white women among the Lankans is generally terrible. They consider them "meat" and use, and then brag to each other how many white "Madam" fucked.

So do not wear rose-colored glasses.

It can be added that several times there was a real danger and it was not possible to avoid it only with jokes and smiles.

Do not stoop to the level of the locals and joke, it is better to keep your distance from them, and maybe even a little arrogant.
