Overview of Langkawi Waterfalls: Where to Swim and When to Go
Waterfalls are one of the main natural attractions in Langkawi. The island has several picturesque waterfalls, each unique in its own way. Seven Wells is famous for its natural swimming pools and trekking opportunities, Temurun is considered the most beautiful cascade waterfall, and Durian is the best spot for relaxing by the water away from the beaches.
Important to consider seasonality: during the dry season (December–March), some waterfalls dry up or become very small. The best time to visit is right after rain or during the rainy season (September–October), when the water flows in full force. The exception is Durian Waterfall, which flows year-round.
Most Langkawi waterfalls are located away from tourist areas, so the easiest way to get there is by rental transport or taxi (Grab). There's no public transport on the island. For more on transport options, check out our guide to getting around Langkawi.

Telaga Tujuh Waterfall (Seven Wells)
Telaga Tujuh Waterfall (Seven Wells) gets its name from the seven small pools that water has carved into the rock over time. It's one of the most popular spots in Langkawi for swimming in cool freshwater.
A well-maintained staircase of 638 steps (20–40 minutes climb) leads to the waterfall. About halfway up, you can take a detour to see the waterfall from below, then continue to the platform where the pools await. From this platform, trekking routes begin: to Blue Pool (10 minutes) and to the summit of Mount Mat Cincang (Peak 701) — a serious 4–5 hour hike involving ropes.

Temurun Waterfall
Temurun Waterfall is the most picturesque waterfall on the island. It consists of several cascades with a total height of 30 meters (nine stories). At the base, there's a pool where you can swim.
There are lots of monkeys around the waterfall, so keep a close eye on your belongings, especially if you decide to take a dip. During the dry season, the waterfall shrinks significantly, so it's best to come here after rain or during the rainy season (September–October).

Durian Perangin Waterfall
Durian Perangin Waterfall — in our opinion, the best spot in Langkawi for relaxing by the water away from the beaches. Unlike other waterfalls, it doesn't dry up even in the dry season. The area is privately owned and well-maintained: there are gazebos, bridges, steps, and lots of greenery.
The waterfall consists of 14 cascades, with the main one forming a pool with refreshing water at the base. You can swim here, and the gazebos are perfect for a picnic. At the entrance, there are souvenir stalls and a cafe. Nearby is an exotic fruit farm.

Langkawi Falls
Langkawi Falls is often confused with the natural Temurun waterfall, but it's a completely different, man-made attraction. It's a decorative feature with landscaped rocks and a pond, where water flows impressively right over the roadway. Swimming is not allowed.
It's not worth a special trip, but it makes a great scenic stop for a couple of minutes on your way to Skull Beach or Temurun Waterfall.
