🚶 How to get there

The Krasnoe Solnyshko observation deck and the Lermontov monument are located deep in the Kislovodsk National Park (The observation deck of the Red Sun and the monument to Lermontov on the map). You can get here only on foot along the national tourist route.depending on the chosen starting point, it will take from 40 minutes to several hours. A well-equipped footpath leads to the observation one, but you will have to climb up all the time, the climb from the center of the tourist district of Kislovodsk (from the Colonnade) will be about 230 meters. Despite this, the road does not present any difficulties even for children and the elderly. Let's tell you more about the routes:

The easiest way to get to the Red Sun is from Valley of Roses, where, in turn, you can get from the Colonnade by electric taxi for 200 rubles/person. From the Valley of Roses to the observation deck, it will be necessary to walk one and a half kilometers with a climb of about 120 meters, which will take 30-40 minutes in one direction.

You can go here without a taxi, starting a walking route from Colonnades. But then you will have to walk almost four kilometers with a set of 230 meters in height, which usually takes 1-2 hours in one direction. In this case, we advise you to take drinking water with you, a raincoat and comfortable shoes will not hurt.

Another convenient starting point is Cascading staircase. You can get to the Cascade Staircase itself by taxi or city buses, or walk along convenient city sidewalks. From the stairs to the observation deck is less than three kilometers.

Despite the fact that there are signs in the park to the Red Sun, we recommend that you additionally use the navigator for walking around the park or download offline maps to your smartphone, for example, applications such as Organic Maps, OSM, Maps.me and so on, and load points of interest from our map into them. It is better to do this in advance, because the Internet in this part of the park catches very poorly. In extreme cases, you can ask for directions from passing tourists.
