Gazebo of the Seven winds in Kislovodsk

Article and Section Navigation

Observation deck "Gazebo of the Seven Winds" is one of the highest equipped observation points in Kislovodsk, above it is only the platform at the top station of the cable car. It is located in the Kislovodsk National Park at an altitude of more than 1130 meters, although, of course, we are talking about the absolute altitude above sea level. And regarding the resort center of Kislovodsk, it is located about 300 meters higher. It offers a magnificent view of the city and the National Park, and in good weather, far on the horizon, you can even see the two peaks of the highest mountain in Russia and Europe – Elbrus.

To get here, you do not have to overcome the entire climb on foot. You can climb to the highest point on the Kislovodsk cable car, enjoy the views from there, and then go down a little to the Gazebo of the Seven Winds. Or you can travel a considerable part of the way by electric taxi to the Valley of Roses, and from there walk to the gazebo. And the most inquisitive tourists go here from the center of the resort on foot, for which they have to overcome not only a rise of 300 meters, but also walk more than 10 kilometers in both directions, if you follow the shortest path from the Colonnade. We will tell you more about how to get to the Gazebo of the Seven Winds at the end of the page.

The gazebo got its name because it is located on a hill open to all winds. But it also has another name – "Rotunda of wishes come true". It is made in the form of a classical domed rotunda, the elegant dome of which is supported on six carved columns. But the observation deck is not limited only to the rotunda itself, and the best views of the surroundings open not even from the gazebo, but from the railing of the observation deck.

🕐 Working hours: around the clock, it is better to visit during the day or before sunset. To see Elbrus, you need to try to get here before noon, because in the afternoon the peaks are hidden by clouds.

💵 Entrance fee / tickets price: free of charge.

🚶 How to get there: The Gazebo of the seven Winds is located in Kislovodsk National Park about five kilometers from the tourist center of Kislovodsk (Gazebo of the Seven Winds on the map). Since this is a national park, you can only get directly to the gazebo on foot, but you can significantly facilitate the route. Let's look at all the ways in more detail:

  • On foot. Walking distance to the gazebo from the tourist center of Kislovodsk, i.e. from the area of the Colonnade and pedestrian boulevard, about five and a half kilometers in one direction, and a climb of about 300 meters. This is quite a gentle walking road, which is easily overcome even by the elderly and children, but it will take a lot of effort, so it's better to plan at least half a day for the entire route there and back. A little less to go from the Cascade staircase of Kislovodsk. Of course, on the way here it is worth visiting other interesting places of Kislovodsk National Park, and which ones, see Here. For a walk, put on comfortable sports or hiking shoes, take drinking water and something to eat, trekking poles and raincoats will not hurt. For navigation, you can use smartphone apps with offline maps like Organic Maps, OSM, Maps.me etc., and also there are signs on the route.
  • By taxi to the Valley of Roses, and then on foot. You can shorten almost half of the walking distance if you first get to Valley of Roses by electric taxi for 200 rubles/person (depart from the Colonnade as it fills up). Then follow the navigator or the signs on foot for 2.5 kilometers, which will take about 1 hour at a leisurely pace.
  • On the cable car. This is the easiest way to get to the Gazebo of the Seven Winds, but also the most expensive. First, you need to take an electric taxi from Colonnades to the Rose Valley for 200 rubles/person. Next to the Valley of Roses is the lower station Kislovodsk cable car, where for 300 rubles you can climb to the upper observation deck at the top of the Blue Mountain. From there to the gazebo on foot only 5 minutes down the footpath. You can walk back to the city on foot through the National Park, along the way looking at other interesting places.
