RussiaWalking route "Witch Lake" in Samara Luka National Park – this is an excursion and entertainment trail, and not a zone, as on other routes. It is held for a certain time, you can not stay on the territory of the route for the night.
The trail introduces the history of the emergence of the village of Bakhilovo, legends and Legends of the Mordovians-moksha - the founders of the village. It takes place next to the lake, and is decorated with figures of fairy - tale characters - a witch, a Goblin, a water and others. Legends and legends are connected with this place that since ancient times there were many sorcerers and witches among the locals.
However, objectively it is worth saying that this route in itself is not of particular interest to serious tourists. This is just a small entertaining walk, which will be interesting only for children, or in order to have a picnic in the gazebo next to the lake. As stated in the official description of this route, it has a length of 2 kilometers and a journey time of 1-2 hours. But in fact, from the parking lot at the checkpoint you will pass it in 10 minutes, and no more. Therefore, in our opinion, it is not worth going here specifically for him, but you can make a stop and walk along the way during a trip to the village of Shiryaevo.
Also from here begins the winter dirt road (zimnik) to the Zavolzhsky monastery and the holy spring in Podhory. It is possible to pass through it only after paying the fare at the checkpoint of 100 rubles for the car and 50 rubles for each passenger. In summer, this road can only be driven by off-road vehicles, and in winter it is available to all avoto.

🚶 How to get there: Witch Lake is located near the village of Bakhilovo, 115 kilometers by road from Samara, and 40 from Togliatti (Witch Lake on the map. It is best to get there by car, at the entrance to the village on the road there is a sign in the direction of the checkpoint.
You can also get there by bus, but with transfers. From Samara you need to make a transfer to Zhigulevsk. From Samara, buses to Zhigulevsk depart from the Central Bus Station (207 Aurora Street), cost from 210 rubles, run approximately every hour according to the schedule from 07:00 to 18:00. From Togliatti it is even easier, from there there are city buses and minibuses No. 137 for 45 rubles every 10-20 minutes. At the zhigulevsk bus station, you need to transfer to bus number 9, 628 or 776 to Shiryaev, which go several times a day according to the schedule, the cost is about 100 rubles.
