Description and Is It Worth Visiting
Molodetsky Kurgan is part of the Samarskaya Luka National Park, entry to the kurgan itself and the surrounding area is a paid tourist route. The kurgan and its surroundings are considered one of the most picturesque places in Samara Region. You can come here to relax for a whole day, walk around and climb to the top, admiring the panorama of the Volga at the point where the artificial reservoir "Zhigulevskoye Sea" is formed, and the mountains Lepeshka and Devichya. More active tourists can stay here overnight in a tent, for which there is an equipped area with benches, tables, and canopies near the entrance. Even if you come here for one day, you can barbecue at this camp.
Previously, access to Molodetsky Kurgan was completely free, but after it was recognized as a nature reserve and a paid entrance was established, it became much cleaner here, that very equipped area appeared, as well as information signs and stands with information about the nature and history of these places. Following the signs, you can climb to the top at 243 meters high via one of the routes: long and gentle or shorter but steeper. The ascent is not difficult, takes 1-2 hours, even a child can manage it. A beautiful panoramic view opens from the top. Also, on the kurgan you can see a memorial sign that was installed on the occasion of V.I. Lenin visiting here in 1895. There is also a monument to tourists Y. Zakharov and his friends who died here in 1963.
In general, Molodetsky Kurgan is a great place for a summer day trip into nature or for an overnight stay. But there are no special attractions here, besides nature and beautiful views.
