What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
The museum "Estate of Princess N.A. Baryatinskaya" is also called the estate "Selbilyar". It is located in an old two-story mansion of the Baryatinsky family, famous and influential people in pre-revolutionary Russia. The house was built in 1892-1894 according to the project of the famous Yalta architect N.P. Krasnov, who built many villas and palaces in the city.
In addition to the mansion, a very important place was occupied by a garden in which cypresses grew (hence the second name "Selbilyar" or Cypress Grove), vineyards, local and exotic fruits and vegetables. Today the garden is a recreation area for those living in the sanatorium, however, when visiting the museum, you will be given a walk around it.
Visitors will be told about the history of the family, from ancestors to descendants, and the construction of the mansion and its territory. There are few exhibits in the museum, mostly preserved personal belongings of the Baryatinsky family and furnishings of the XIX-XX centuries, which are housed in several halls.
This museum was opened recently, in 2021, its permanent exhibition was replenished from various sources, including collectors. We recommend going here to those who have already reviewed everything in Yalta.
Considering that the museum-estate is located in the administrative building of the Kirov Sanatorium, it is better to register in advance by phone +7(978) 946-59-01.
