What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Merheul spring, also known as Marheul, is a free source of natural mineral water, where you can stop on the way to Olginsky waterfalls, in Chernigov gorge to Baryalsky waterfalls, Shakuransky waterfall and others interesting natural attractions along the Military-Sukhumi road. The water comes from a well one hundred meters deep, and its temperature is constant throughout the year and is about 18 ° C.
It is believed that the water here has curative and prophylactic properties, helps to remove stones from the kidneys, and therefore it can and should be drunk and taken with you. The water really tastes like mineral water with a slight smell of hydrogen sulfide. It is recommended to use it dosed during a 2-4 week course. Unfortunately, next to the source we did not find any information plate about its composition, useful properties and application procedure. But if we start from the traditional recommendations that are given in the pump rooms of Caucasian Mineral Waters, that a single dose should not be too large: 200-250 grams should be enough, otherwise the benefit may turn into harm.
