One of the largest salt production facilities in Vietnam is located 30 km northeast of Vung Tau. Salt mining is a rather laborious process, which is still performed manually by pltcm. You can partially see the work in natural conditions by coming here. However, it should be taken into account that the extraction and collection of salt in time stretches for several months, from about February to July, the rest of the time there is nothing to do here. Therefore, it is important to choose the right time to visit them. In different periods of the process, you can see different pictures: from flood waters, shallow and whitened areas of the surface from evaporated salt, to collectors in the fields, carefully raking salt crystals into heaps. The most picturesque, of course, is the "harvest" period.
There are no excursions from Vung Tau to the salt fields, you can only see them on your own and by rented transport. Considering that this process is not year-round, but lasts only for a certain time, we will not advise you to go here on purpose. But, if you find yourself in these parts at the right time and will be traveling around the neighborhood, you can stop by – the spectacle is definitely worth it.

🚶 How to get there
Salt fields occupy a large area to the north-east of Vung Tau, near the town of Long Dien (salt fields on the map). They stretch for almost 6 kilometers along the D44 highway and it is enough to turn left onto one of the streets to see the salt plantations.
There are no sightseeing tours here, so you can only get there by yourself or by taxi, while a taxi can be quite expensive.
And it is also worth considering that it is not possible to enter the salt field everywhere without hindrance. In most cases, this is prohibited and therefore you will have to be content with the views from afar, or ask permission from the guards to pass and shoot.
