Linh Son Co Tu Pagoda or Linh Son Co Tu is the oldest temple in Vung Tau, a recognized national relic. It is also called the Temple of the Golden Buddha. This place is especially notable for the fact that it houses an ancient statue of Buddha, which is more than 1600 years old. The pagoda is deeply revered by Buddhists and is one of the most famous sights of Vung Tau.
Originally, the Lin Son Ko Tu temple was built on Mount Nuino in 1860, but at the beginning of the 20th century it was demolished by the French to build a lighthouse. In 1919, the pagoda was restored nearby, and later moved to its current location.
Of particular value of the temple are unique artifacts: a stone statue of Buddha Shakyamuni and a bronze statue of Buddha Maitreya. These statues are in the main hall among other images of Buddha and demons. The statue of Buddha Shakyamuni, created from sandstone, dates back to about the 7th century. This is one of two rare ancient statues discovered more than 100 years ago. According to legend, they were found while collecting firewood on the slope of Mount Nuino, buried in the ground. One of these statues is now kept here. Also in the pagoda you can see a bronze gilded statue of Buddha Maitreya, brought from Laos in 1972.
In the courtyard of the pagoda there is a white statue of Bodhisattva Guanyin, and there is also a pond with lotuses, adding to this place a special peace and tranquility.

The pagoda is located in the central part of the city at 104 Hoang Hoa Tham St (pagoda on the map). It is easy to walk here from the center, or you can take a taxi or rent a transport.
