Description and is it worth a visit

Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine

Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine (FITO Museum, Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine & Pharmacy) is one of the specialized and interesting museums demonstrating the development of pharmacology in Vietnam. This is a private collection of the founder of a large pharmaceutical company in Vietnam, Fito Pharma. The museum is popular not only with guests of Ho Chi Minh City, but also with local youth who use its premises for Instagram shots.

In 1992 and 1993, traditional oriental medicine began to spread throughout the former Soviet Union and Phyto products were widely exported to the CIS countries.

On the 6 floors of the museum there are many antique exhibits from lockers for storing raw materials, to tinctures with roots and snakes and tools for making potions. On one of the floors there is a huge collection of images of plants used in traditional Vietnamese medicine. And from the top floor there is a panoramic view of the city.

The ticket price includes accompanying a guide, at the end of the inspection – a demonstration of a film about traditional medicine (including in Russian) and a cup of tea. In addition, the sale of herbal teas and natural cosmetics is organized in the lobby of the first floor, so if you wish, you can buy a souvenir for yourself or your loved ones.

The FITO Museum has a second branch, the Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Pharmacy, next to the Fito Pharma factory on the outskirts of Ho Chi Minh City. There is also a direct production of medicines here. The exhibits of both museums are similar in subject matter. However, in this place, in addition, you will be guided through the production facilities of the factory, where you will be shown and told about the process of manufacturing medicines for oriental medicine.

Both museums are quite informative and interesting, so choose one of them. At the same time, visiting the Fito Pharma museum and factory has some limitations. It works only on Saturdays, with groups of 10 people and by appointment, for which you need to contact the administration in advance. Therefore, in our opinion, it will be easiest to go to the city branch of the Museum of Traditional Vietnamese Medicine.
