Description and Is it Worth Visiting
The launch of night lanterns on the Thu Bon River in Hoi An is another tourist activity that has become a hallmark of Hoi An. With the onset of darkness, the river literally fills with hundreds, if not thousands, of these lanterns, to the delighted gazes of tourists. Because of this, even a legend has appeared – that if you perform the ritual of launching a lantern on the water and make a wish, it will come true. But that's not certain. What is certain is that by buying a lantern and launching it, you will definitely make the seller or accompanying guide a little happier. The most important thing in this matter is not to overpay. For a lantern here on the spot at the embankment, they might ask even $5, but if you bargain, you can buy it for 10,000 dong (0.38 USD). And on the adjacent streets at stalls and souvenir shops, they are sold for 5,000 dong.
