The park and walking alleys around the lake of the returned sword (Hoan Kiem Lake) in Hanoi are the tourist center of the city, a landmark and a starting point for tourists. The lake of the returned Sword is even commonly referred to simply as "Lake", and all Hanoians understand what is meant. The position of all attractions is usually determined relative to the lake. North of the lake (see map of Hanoi) there is a tourist area and it is also Old Town, which is home to most of cheap hotels and hostels in Hanoi.
In the evenings, you can walk around the lake for hours and watch the life of the inhabitants of Hanoi. There's almost always something going on. We (the authors of the site), for example, last watched the filming of a TV show on the Jade Island and the bridge, which involved many Asian beauties (see photo below). For the Hanoi People themselves, this is a popular place for evening rest and morning and evening Gymnastics. Along the perimeter there are walking paths, shops, flower beds, several sculptures and monuments, sometimes street artists and artists work.
At the northern end of the lake of the returned Sword is the bus stop of the city transport, the office tourist electric vehicles, taxi rank. Here, in the North, is the popular restaurant City View Cafe, which is certainly worth a visit in the evening, if not because of the cuisine, then at least because of the view of the evening city and the lake from a height.
To the Northeast is the building of the Puppet Theater on the water, a visit to which should be an integral part of any program of stay in Hanoi.
In the middle of the lake on a small island is the "turtle Temple", and next to the northern shore lies the Jade Island, on which is the "Jade Temple" (Ngoc Son Temple), and which can be reached by the famous wooden Red Bridge ("Bridge of morning sunlight"). The entrance to the temple and the bridge for foreigners is paid-20,000VND (currency of Vietnam).
