Weekend Night Market in Hanoi and how to visit it

Description and is it worth a visit

Weekend Night Market

Although the entire tourist area of Hanoi's Old City near the Lake of the Returned Sword itself resembles a large market, the weekend night market deserves a special mention. It is difficult to call it a landmark in the classical sense, but this atmospheric activity should definitely be included in the program of visiting Hanoi. As the name implies, it works only in the evenings on weekends - from Friday to Sunday.

The market is located on one of the main streets of the Old City - Hang Dao, and stretches for almost a kilometer - from the lake of the Returned Sword to the Dong Xuan indoor market. With the onset of darkness, the street is blocked for transport, and literally in a matter of minutes a number of stalls grow here. The assortment is very diverse: casual and tourist clothes, bags and suitcases, electronics, cosmetics and perfumes, local coffee and tea, as well as countless souvenirs - including truly unique handicrafts, and not just Chinese consumer goods. At the beginning and end of the street there are stalls with Vietnamese street fast food.

There are really a lot of goods here, and the prices are pleasantly surprising. However, in order not to overpay, you either need to be able to bargain, or at least roughly navigate the local prices. Most products do not have price tags - the cost needs to be checked with sellers. Keep in mind: the originally named price for a tourist may be several times higher than the real one - even compared to neighboring counters. Some products have fixed price tags, but even in this case you can try to bargain, especially if you take several things from one seller.

In our experience, shopping here can be both pleasant and very profitable. The main thing is to keep the balance: do not bargain too aggressively. Approach the process with a smile and calmness - in most cases, sellers will respond in kind. So you will get not only good shopping at pleasant prices, but also the pleasure of this special evening pastime.

What they don't sell here! For example, shoes
A lot of non-expensive tourist clothes
Consumer goods for a penny
Handmade crafts. They are made right behind the counters
And it's nice to buy this even as a gift
