Description and is it worth a visit

National Museum of Vietnamese history in Hanoi (Bao Tang Lich su Viet Nam) contains one of the most comprehensive expositions recounting the history of Vietnam more than a thousand years ago and before modern history. This is just a must-visit place if you are even a little interested in the history of Vietnam.

Now the museum consists of two buildings: actually, the National Museum itself, and the former Museum of the Vietnamese revolution, which was previously independent, is a five-minute walk away. Now both museums operate on a single schedule and are visited by one ticket.

Main building (Location 1, main exhibition)

Here are relics of the Paleolithic and Neolithic, exhibits from the Times of the great empires. The exhibition is very exciting and interesting, especially if you read the information on the plates (given in Vietnamese, French and English), or use the audio guide (also in Vietnamese, French or English), which are issued free of charge at the entrance in exchange for any document as a deposit. A visit should be allocated at least two hours.

Additional building (Location 2, former Museum of the revolution)

More than forty thousand historical exhibits, telling about the heroic and tragic villages of the country's history. Events from the second half of the XIX century are covered: the beginning of the national liberation movement against the French and before the construction of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. It will be very interesting to see exhibits directly related to the USSR: documents and photographs of Communist Party Congresses; party tickets issued by the Communist Party of the USSR, and more.
