Lake Tuyen Lam (Tuyen Lam Lake) is considered the most beautiful and romantic lake in Dalat. A place for water walks and photo shoots, it looks especially picturesque against the background of dawn or sunset. However, from our own experience of visiting, we will say that all the enthusiastic reviews of tourists are somewhat exaggerated. In fact, Tuen Lam is no different from many other lakes, except, perhaps, for its bizarre shape. When viewed from above, it looks like thin leaf veins directed in different directions. And this is not for nothing, because it is artificial and was formed as a result of mining operations for the extraction of stone. But you still won't appreciate its shape during the trip, it can only be seen from the air.
There are several paid photo zones and parks around the perimeter of the island that cost from 50 000 VND. There are also beautiful places where you can take beautiful photos for free. There are several guest villas and hotels, park areas, cafes and restaurants along the shore. If desired, you can organize a picnic and overnight in a tent, go fishing. Interesting shots are obtained at the foot of the spillway, when water from the lake flows down the steps of the structure.
At the pier under the Thienvien Monastery, you can rent a kayak or a sap surf, a two- or multi-person boat and go on a short swim on the lake. Water transport rental starts from 400,000 VND.
If you are traveling on your own and have rented a transport, it will be interesting to take a ride around Tuen Lam Lake with stops at observation points and visiting attractions. Among them Thienvien Monastery, Dalat Wonderland amusement park, Lavander Garden, theme park Clay Tunnel, Secret Garden photo zone. Tourist groups are also brought here, but in a dense excursion route it will only be possible to look at the lake, there may not be time left before swimming and a measured walk along the shore.
In general, Tuen Lam Lake is an interesting and picturesque place, but we would not recommend it as a must-visit and priority.

🚶 How to get there
The lake is located 5 kilometers from the city center, and interestingly, at an altitude of about 100 meters above the center of Dalat (lake on the map). But you need to understand that Tuen Lam is not some specific point where you come and look at it. After all, the lake is large, the perimeter road around it takes almost 20 kilometers, and together with the arrivals in different branches, all 30.
The easiest way to visit it, just to take a look at it and take a photo, is just to come to the pier under the Thienvien monastery. You can go boating there, and there are also several points for beautiful photos. One of the most popular free photo points is located here on the map. You can get to the monastery by taxi or take the cable car up here, and then take a walk in this part of the lake. From the monastery there is a short path to the pier. Just keep in mind that the gates to the monastery from the side of the lake are closed at 16:30. If you do not have time, you will have to go around a lot, and then, most likely, you will not have time for the cable car.For a tour of the monastery and the lake with such a route, it is worth laying 3-4 hours without taking into account the road, and with the road it is almost half the daylight.
Another option for visiting the lake is to go around the perimeter of the lake by rented transport or with an individual guide with a visit to observation points, amusement parks and attractions. We have already told about them above. However, it will not be possible to drive around the lake in a circle, since there is no ring road. We'll have to drive along its eastern shore all the way, then back, and also along the western one.
