Description and is it worth a visit

Bao Dai Palace 2

Bao Dai Palace 2 (Dinh II, Bao Dai Palace 2 or Governor's Palace) is one of the villas of Emperor Bao Dai, which, although in his possession, he rarely appeared here. Now it is an almost abandoned and deserted area with a couple of buildings and a forest park around in the very center of Dalat. The building itself is modest and does not represent anything special. It is possible to get inside, but for this you need to contact the administration. Therefore, most tourists can only walk around the building in a shady park. The place is famous and visited only by independent tourists, located within walking distance from the center. Excursions are not brought here.

Although it is believed that the palace was the summer residence of Bao Dai, however, this is not entirely true. The house was built between 1933 and 1937 for the emperor, but became the headquarters of the French ruling apparatus in Indochina and the venue for the most important meetings of that time. The Governor-General of Indochina, Jean Deku, lived here, hence the second name - the Governor's Palace. At that time, many underground tunnels were built under the building for safe escape in the event of a coup, they connect the basement of the building with the surroundings. In the following years, the palace became the residence of the adviser to the first President of South Vietnam, Ngo Dinh Nu, and the Prime Minister of South Vietnam, Nguyen Khanh. Today, the palace is used as a guest house of the Lamdong Provincial People's Committee, holding events, conferences and hosting VIP guests, so the number of visitors is limited. On such days, even entering the territory may be prohibited.

A good place for photo shoots, especially here they like to hold wedding photo shoots. In general, if you don't have much time in Dalat, then we wouldn't necessarily recommend going here. Better choose Bao Dai Palace 3 (Dinh III).
