Description and is it worth a visit
Ramboda Falls with a height of 108 meters is among the most beautiful in Sri Lanka, and definitely the most visited of Nuwara Eliya. This is a triple waterfall, consisting of three: small (lower), medium, and large (upper). Usually, tourists unknowingly perceive the middle waterfall as both at once, and limiting themselves to viewing from the side of the road, they go further. But in fact, the upper waterfall can not be seen from the road, you need to go up the trail for about half a kilometer, which takes 20-30 minutes.
At the foot of the upper waterfall there is a large swimming pool in which you can swim, and a large rocky area where you can have a picnic and sunbathe. On weekdays there are very few people here, so you can come here to relax and swim at least for the whole day.
To get to the lower waterfall, you need to go through the cafe, and from its platform there is a view of it.
🕐 Working hours
Around the clock, visit during daylight hours.
💵Entrance fee / ticket price
You can view the middle or lower waterfall from the road for free, the entrance to the upper waterfall is 50 rupees (0.15 USD, see currency of Sri Lanka, exchange rate).
🚶 How to get there
The waterfall is located 24 kilometers from the center of Nuwara - eliya on the way to the town of Ramboda (waterfall on the map). Two kilometers away is the Blue field Tea Factory, and their visits can be combined. You can get there by tuk-tuk (will cost about 800 rupees), but much cheaper by bus. You need to take any bus to Kandy or Ramboda at Nuwara Eliya bus station, they leave every 20-30 minutes, cost 55 rupees. The bus makes a stop on the road right next to the waterfall, from where it has a good view. The entrance to the trail to the upper waterfall is on the left.
