Keerimalai Springs is a sacred water source revered by Hindus, and has been visited by locals for centuries. They believe that the water here has a miraculous healing power. Anyway, the water in the spring is salty and mineralized, although it does not come from the ocean, since its level in the basins is above sea level. But these are not hot springs. You can not drink water, only bathe in it.

The springs are well equipped for swimming, anyone can swim. The locals are very friendly and sociable, will help you and explain everything, although everything is simple here. There are two swimming pools: a large men's pool overlooking the ocean, and a separate smaller pool for women. There is a locker room, a place to relax in the shade. You can swim in clothes (as some locals do), or undress to a swimsuit, but women even in swimsuits need to wrap themselves in a towel or sheet. You can change in the changing rooms or right next to the springs under the canopies, and take things with you and put them on the steps surrounding the pool. Keep a close eye on things, there have been cases of theft.
