Areas and hotels in Jaffna where to stay

There is no difficulty in finding a hotel or other accommodation in Jaffna. There are many accommodation options, prices are very low by Sri Lankan standards, although there are almost no comfortable hotels. In the city itself, budget accommodation is mainly presented in the form of mini-hotels, private guest houses, and even rented rooms in the homes of local residents. There are quite budget options for hostels, but there are very few of them. Yes, and there is no great sense in necessarily looking for cheap accommodation in the Common Room of the hostel, since by paying the minimum amount you can get a separate room. More comfortable accommodation for recreation is located on the coast and islands in the area of a few beaches.

Where to choose a hotel in Jaffna, where to stay

Jaffna is a small city and there is no division into districts. If you want to stay closer in infrastructure, attractions, transport, shopping markets, then it is best to just choose a hotel as close to the center as possible, and this is the area formed by the Fort, Railway and bus station. It is here that most of the shops, markets, cafes are located, and you can find at least some tourist services.

If you want to be close to the beach, then in the city center there are no such options at all. The nearest beach is 15 kilometers away, so if a beach holiday is a priority for you, choose a hotel immediately with its beach.
