Despite the promising name, in the cave of primitive man in Zheleznovodsk you will not see any traces of the presence of ancient people, but you will find many traces of modern man, including garbage and waste products. But in 1969, archaeologists here actually discovered a human site of the IV-III millennia BC (Bronze Age), which is considered one of the oldest in the Caucasian mineral waters. Archaeological excavations were carried out in the cave, and many of the artifacts found became museum exhibits. Among them are more than 100 flakes of obsidian (volcanic glass) and stone used as tools and weapons, such as arrowheads.
The cave is small, rather it is even a grotto, and since it is located on one of the slopes Saltpeter rock, it is also called saltpeter. Today it is visited by tourists during a walk along the Terrencourt. Unfortunately, no one cares for her, which is why she is overgrown with piles of garbage and modern inscriptions. Here you can also climb the Saltpeter rocks to the site with views and visit the drinking Saltpeter spring.
To the question of whether it is worth visiting the caves of primitive man in Zheleznovodsk, we would answer that it is worth it, but only if you decide to walk along the terrencures and hiking trails Iron Mountain. But there is no point in getting to the cave specifically from the center of the resort, because you will not see anything interesting here.

To shorten the walking part of the route, you can take a car from the non-tourist part of the city along the old asphalt road to the cafe "Forester's Hut", leave the car there and continue walking along the trails. In this case, you will have to walk only one and a half kilometers to the cave instead of four.
