What to Expect and Is It Worth Visiting
Art Nouveau Museum is a branch of P. V. Alabin Museum of local lore. It is located in the old mansion of Alexandra Kurlina, built in 1903 in the Art Nouveau style and is an architectural monument.
The museum is dedicated to the Art Nouveau style, which in French means "modern", which captured Europe and Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This artistic direction in architecture, decorative, applied and Fine Arts then reached Samara. Visitors are offered a permanent exhibition in three halls of the main ground floor: "study", "boudoir", and "dining room". The collection presents furniture, clothing, paintings, accessories of European and Russian masters of that time. There are also creative events, lectures, concerts, exhibitions of contemporary artists, festivals, organized walking and cycling tours around the city.
In general, the museum is small and at first glance not very spectacular, but with an audio guide or excursion accompaniment, its visit will be interesting for a wide range of tourists.
