P. V. Alabin Museum of local lore - this is the main museum of the city and the region, and one of the oldest museums in the Volga region. It appeared in 1886 at the suggestion of the head of Samara, Peter Vladimirovich Alabin, and it was proposed to create a museum in honor of Emperor Alexander II. And the current name was given to the museum only in 1993.
The museum includes several expositions located in different buildings. The most interesting exposition for a wide range of tourists is located in the main building on Leninskaya Street. In addition to the historical collection, there is a library, a conference room, a cinema hall, collection storage rooms, staff offices, an art workshop, a cafe, a museum store and an Information Center. Exhibition space is 700 sq. m.
A rich collection of archaeological finds, natural science exhibits, historical, household and ethnographic collection tells about the history of the region and the country. There is also a Numismatic Collection, rare books, cold and firearms of Russia, the countries of the West and the East, a collection of photographs and negatives on the history of the region.
