Iversky convent in Samara

The history of this monastery began in 1850, when a women's religious community was established in Samara, and a wooden chapel was built on the current site of the monastery. In 1860, a full-fledged convent was created, stone temples and a fence were built. A cemetery appears at the monastery, where more than 1000 people were buried. During the period of Soviet power, the monastery was closed, the second largest church in Samara, the assumption monastery, was blown up, and residential buildings were built in its place. The bell tower, the monastery fence, some buildings were destroyed, the cemetery was devastated, various organizations settled in the remaining churches, and the buildings of monastic dormitories were transferred to workers ' housing.

Since 1992, the revival of the monastery began. Since then, the monastery churches, the monastery bell tower in the appearance of the XIX century have been restored and restored, a new church-chapel has been built. And since 2001, the relics of St. Alexander Chagrinsky have been kept in the monastery. Also on the territory of the monastery is the grave of P. Alabin, the revered head of the city of the late XIX – early XX centuries, and the surviving tombstones from the ruined monastery cemetery are kept.
