The gallery is located in the old mansion of the Merchant of the second Guild Ivan Andreevich Te-Klodt, which is an architectural monument of the XIX century of federal significance. The art gallery here opened in 1990. It is created especially for the child-viewer and the child-artist. But along with children's works, the museum exhibits paintings by professional artists, students, graduates of art schools and universities, exhibitions of traditional national cultures, folk arts and crafts, various educational and developmental projects are held. Now the gallery is a combination of four different museums (Museum of children's creativity, architectural monument and Museum of everyday culture of the late XIX-early XX centuries, Museum of decorative and Applied Arts, Garden Museum). There are also workshops for the development of children's Fine Arts and a lecture hall.
