General information

Zelenogorie (Zelenogorie) is a small village 10 kilometers from the southern coast of Crimea, belongs to bolshaya Alushta (village of Zelenogorye on the map of Crimea). It is located away from the beaches at an altitude of 260 meters above sea level. The population is slightly more than 200 people.

Despite its tiny size and location away from the beaches, Zelenogorie is a popular tourist destination. Most tourists and travelers come here only for one day to see the local iconic sights: the Panagia tract, the Arpat waterfalls, the mountain lake. Indeed, one day is enough to make an excursion to this mountain village and return to the sunny beaches of the Crimea. However, there are also tourists who stay here for a few days, because in Zelenogorye there is a completely different situation and a different type of recreation than on the Crimean beaches. Beautiful mountain landscapes open up around, many mountain trails invite you to walk around the neighborhood, and you can sunbathe and swim in the lake or waterfalls. But the most important thing is that the quiet rustic atmosphere of a mountain village is added to all this.

Of course, it will be difficult to spend your entire vacation in Zelenogorye, because the situation here is rustic, and the infrastructure is appropriate: no entertainment, a minimum of shops and catering, no transport. In addition to walking around the neighborhood or contemplating the scenery, you can only go to a homemade village bath, try homemade food. All this is offered by local residents. But apart from this, there are no evening classes here, so the ideal option for travelers would be to come to the village in the morning, walk around the neighborhood and see the sights, in the evening take a steam bath and have dinner at home. And in the morning go back to the coast.

You can stay in Zelenogorye in one of several guest houses, at a recreation center, or in the homes of local residents. There will be no problems with finding housing, everywhere in the village you can find signs with offers to spend the night in private homes. Weather and tourist seasons in the village of Zelenogorye

Since there is no beach holiday in the village, you can visit Zelenogorye to take a break from the hustle and bustle in a rustic setting at any time. However, in winter, the private infrastructure (the houses of local residents offered for rent and other services) is not always ready to receive tourists. The best time to travel to Zelenogorie for sightseeing is the end of spring or the beginning of summer, because in the second half of summer and autumn the mountain lake shallows, the waterfalls of the Panagia tract almost dry up.

How to get to Zelenogorie

The village is located 10 kilometers from the coast, 65 kilometers from Alushta, and 40 kilometers from Sudak. It is very difficult to get here by public transport, the only bus service runs from Alushta. Therefore, travelers often look into the village on their own transport. It will not be difficult to get to the village by car, a good asphalt road leads here. But be careful on your first trip, because the road is mountainous and winding.

The only bus route connects Zelenogorye with Alushta and villages Privetnoe, Rybachye, Morskoe, Solnechnogorskoe on the way. Sights of Zelenogorie

There are only two attractions in Zelenogorye: this is the lake and the Panagia tract, along which the tourist route passes. There are also many other unequipped trails in the vicinity used by locals, which can be quite interesting for walking as a tourist attraction. It is impossible to purchase excursions in the village to other attractions of the Crimea.

• Panagia tract and Arpat waterfalls

  

  The Panagia tract is the main attraction of Zelenogorie. In the narrow gorge of the tract flows the Arpat stream, aka the Pananya-Uzen River, which means "Holy River". On the way of the water, the rocks formed many beautiful waterfalls, and the water for millions of years made fancy baths in the stones. There is a walking tourist route along the stream, for the sake of walking along which tourists and travelers come here.

  The tourist route passes along a well-equipped trail with stairs and railings, benches for recreation, and even a toilet is installed at the beginning of the route. No special training and equipment is required for the hike, but in some places the passages are quite difficult, and elderly people and children will not be able to. • Mountain Lake Panagia

  

  Artificial mountain lake Panagia or simply mountain lake in the village of Zelenogorye is located at an altitude of 290 meters above sea level in a picturesque gorge surrounded by mountains near the Muezzin-Kaya and Chok-Sary-Kaya mountains. Wonderful landscapes open up around, which are decorated with turquoise water of the lake. This is one of the attractions of the mountain village of Zelenogorye, which is visited together with the Panagia tract.

  The lake is generally small, and from the side of the village is bounded by an embankment dam, to which a dirt road leads up. There is a spacious area in front of the dam where you can park your car, and if you wish, you can climb up to the dam, but not every car will stop there in bad weather. The shores of the lake are mostly steep and rocky, only in one place there is a kind of beach. There is no sand here, mostly small stone, but not pebbles turned by waves, but sharp pebbles. However, if desired, it is quite possible to enter the water and swim. There are small fish and frogs in the lake, there are no conditions for fishing. Convenient places to set up a tent can be found a little south of the lake, and if desired, you can put a tent on the slope on the beach.
