General information
Solnechnogorskoe is a village on the southern coast of Crimea at the mouth of the Ulu-Uzen River, 24 kilometers from Alushta and about 60 kilometers from Simferopol (Solnechnogorskoe on the map of Crimea). It is washed by the waters of the Black Sea. Solnechnogorskoye is part of big alushta. The population of the village is a little more than 1000 people.
It is believed that the first settlement in this place appeared in the 9th-10th centuries, and was called Xero-Potamo. However, archaeological excavations have not confirmed this, and according to other versions, the village appeared much later. Later, the village was renamed Kuru-Uzen by the Ottomans, and only in 1945 it received its modern name. Today it is a popular beach resort, lying on the Black Sea coast and surrounded by low picturesque mountains.
Vacation in Solnechnogorsk
Solnechnogorskoye is a great resort for a relaxing family vacation. In addition to a long and free pebble beach, a quiet environment, here you can find a well-developed tourist infrastructure that is minimally necessary for recreation. In Solnechnogorsk, there are no noisy parties and drunken young people walking late, with the arrival of darkness, the village falls asleep.
Nightlife is completely absent, as well as other entertainment. There is not even an embankment for evening walks along the sea. Unfortunately, there are no children's entertainment at all, and this is perhaps a significant disadvantage for those who come here to relax with their family. But you can take a bus to Alushta or go on foot to the neighboring village of Malorechenskoye, where there is an embankment and some entertainment.
Solnechnogorsky Beaches
The beach in Solnechnogorsk is long, almost one and a half kilometers, which distinguishes it from the neighboring village of Malorechenskoye. The beach is mixed, mostly small pebbles, with gray sand. There are no breakwaters, the coastal strip is not interrupted by fences and buildings. The southern part of the beach (towards Alushta) was loved by nudists. Although the P29 highway passes through the entire village almost close to the sea, the beach is separated from the road by a number of shops and cafes, and in the southern part of the village there is a residential area, so that traffic does not interfere with beach holidays at all. There are no amenities and entertainment on the beach, so before going to Solnechnogorskoye, stock up on a beach umbrella and bedding. In which case they can be purchased at local stores.
On the outskirts of the village towards Alushta there is a small area that is traditionally occupied by nudists. Also, the wild and popular beach among nudists is located between the villages of Solnechnogorskoye and Malorechenskoye.
Attractions and entertainment
There are no attractions in Solnechnogorsk, but the village is known as a transshipment point for trips to the deepest waterfall of the Crimea - Djur-Djur, which is located 9 kilometers from Solnechnogorsk next to another even more tiny village Generalskoe. It is difficult and long to get to the waterfall or the village of Generalskoye by public transport, so travelers come to Solnechnogorskoye, and here they hire a car for a trip to the waterfall.
Another interesting place to visit from Solnechnogorsk is the museum of disasters on the water and the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker in the neighboring village of Malorechenskoye, which can be reached on foot in 20-30 minutes.
If you have a great desire to visit other attractions of the Crimea, then in the village you can buy excursions to all the most popular places of the peninsula. Excursions are offered by distributors who set up their points of sale along the main road passing through the village, but only in the highest season (in July and August).
As for entertainment, there are none here at all, which is why the village attracts a certain category of vacationers. Even on the beach you will not find traditional banana rides here, etc. The only thing that is offered is boat trips and sea fishing. If you really get bored, you will have to take the bus to Alushta for a day, where you can find entertainment for children and adults. In the evening, you can go for a walk along the embankment to the neighboring village of Malorechenskoye, there you can also visit a nightclub or sit in a bar. You can get to Malorechenskoye on foot, which will take 15-20 minutes.
Infrastructure
The infrastructure in Solnechnogorsk is well developed for such a small village. There are several shops, including household goods, a market. Almost everything is concentrated along the main street of the village - Highway Street, also known as highway P29, connecting Alushta and Sudak.
But the infrastructure for tourists starts working only in high season. Cafes, excursions, shops with goods for tourists and tourist shops, and even most of the hotels open only in mid-June, and finish work at the end of September. At the intersection of Shosseynaya Street and Cherry Street, an inexpensive canteen is open during the season.
Hotels and accommodation where to stay in Solnechnogorsk
In Solnechnogorsk, you can stay in hotels or guesthouses, as well as rent private housing. Prices in high season start from 700 rubles for a room for two, and from 900 for a room for four.
The bulk of the accommodation is concentrated along the main road - highway R29 (also known as Shosseynaya Street). Also, a lot of housing is offered in the depths of the village, and the prices there are even cheaper. The most convenient and expensive accommodation is offered on the first line with direct access to the beach. Unfortunately, most of the housing offered there is the private sector, which can only be booked on the spot or by phone through ads or "tips" of friends.
The most economical can be accommodated at the camping site in the northern part of the village. It used to work officially, but as of June 2016 it was not functioning, and you can come and take a place for a car and a tent there for free. But, in our opinion, this place is extremely inconvenient: it is located on an elevation above the beach with an inconvenient long descent to the beach, it is an asphalted area, not very comfortable for accommodation in a tent. Besides, it is open to all winds.
