Sugarloaf Mountain or Sugarloaf, an ode to "Sudak Golgotha" is a low rock in the residential area of Sudak near the Sudak fortress and an unusual natural landmark. Its height is about 30 meters, which is about 9 floors. It has a coral origin, which causes its unusual shape with steep slopes. It is said that it was because of its shape that it got its name, because it resembles large "heads" of sugar, in the form of which it was sold in the old days.
For tourists, Sugar Loaf is interesting because from the top there are good views of Sudak and Sudak fortress, which will appear before you in the palm of your hand. In general, this is probably the best vantage point on the fortress. It is easy to climb up, if desired, without equipment, but simply on "your own two feet." And on one of its steep steep walls, climbers and climbers train, of course, with special equipment and skills.
We will not embellish the attractiveness and significance of these attractions for vacationers, because you will not get anything but views from above when you visit it. However, Sugar Loaf is not as simple as it seems at first glance, because its history is full of events, including tragic ones. In 9124, during an earthquake, a large stone broke off from the rock, which rolled down the slope and "crushed" the house. Climbers and climbers are often injured here, and in Soviet times, during the RSFSR climbing championship, a twenty-year-old athlete died, as recalled by a memorial plaque at the base of the mountain.
The sugar loaf also "lit up" in the cinema. In 2004, one of the key scenes of the execution of the film "The Master and Margarita" was filmed here, for which three crosses were installed on the top. After that, another popular name appeared at the mountain – "Sudak Golgotha".

🚶 How to get there: Sugar Loaf is located on the outskirts of Sudak in a residential area near the Sudak fortress (Sugar Loaf Mountain on the map). It is easy to get here on foot from any part of the city, or you can take city buses and minibuses No. 2, 5 and 6. There are several clearly distinguishable trails leading up, which converge into one closer to the top. The ascent is generally simple and can be overcome in 10-15 minutes, but take special care at the top and during the descent.
