Mount Koshka is a unique natural monument and a specially protected natural area near Simeiz. The mountain got its name because from the shore it really resembles a cat. If you look closely, you can see the outlines of a head with an ear and a rounded back of a sleeping cat. On the rocky breaks of the mountain you can see the ruins of ancient Taurus settlements of the VI-II centuries BC and the ruins of the fortress Isar Limena-Kale of the XIII—XV centuries. Another remarkable place on the mountain is a unique "swinging dolmen", which is a large stone above the cliff, supported by several small stones. The vegetation here is diverse, there are juniper, pine, pistachio, oak, and other evergreen shrubs. In total, there are more than 300 species of plants, 12 of which are listed in the Red Book. From the observation decks on the mountain you will have picturesque views of the coast and other natural monuments in the area – Panea rocks, Diva, Swan Wing.
The cat is a low mountain, only 254 meters above sea level, and therefore every vacationer will be able to climb to its top and walk along the slopes, no special skills and equipment will be required here. There are many hiking trails along its slopes, but the most basic, safe and marked, which will lead you to the top, runs along the northern slope and starts from the South Coast Highway. This route is well-maintained, there are benches for rest and fencing of dangerous places. The ascent and descent is not difficult and even small children can do it. We recommend this place for quiet and family walks.

🚶 How to get there
Mount Koshka is located on the east side of Simeiz, it is towards the beach Blue Bay and the village of Katsiveli (Mount Koshka on the map). Despite the fact that the mountain is perfectly visible from the center of the village, it is not worth trying to climb it from this side, there is too steep a rocky cliff. You need to walk or drive one and a half kilometers to the entrance to the tourist route along the mountain from the South Coast highway, there is free parking. If you don't want to walk at all, then you can get from the center of Simeiz and from other areas of Bolshaya Yalta to the beginning of the route by minibus No. 107 (departs from Yalta bus station approximately every 30 minutes). You need to go to the stop "Blue Bay" or ask the driver to stop at the beginning of the trail to the Cat.
