Grafskaya embankment is located on the pier of the same name and is one of the iconic places of Sevastopol. To be more precise, the embankment is a small, only 60 meters long, part of the marina, to which boats are not usually moored, and it is accessible for walking and fishing.
In general, the entire marina and embankment is an architectural monument built in 1783. Initially, the pier was named after the commander of the Black Sea Fleet, Count M.I. Voinovich, who docked at this place. Subsequently, after the landing at the pier of Empress Catherine II, it was renamed Catherine for a while. However, over time, the first name was historically fixed – Grafskaya.
There is a pier near Admiral P.S. Nakhimov Square, this is the very center of the city. In front of the entrance there is a large white colonnade, behind which there is a wide staircase leading to the pier. Marble statues of lions are installed on both sides of the staircase. There are also several memorial plaques installed in honor of various historical events.
There is not much room for a walk here, you can only sit down on the steps. But as entertainment, there is an opportunity to go fishing (if you have gear), watch other fishermen, or look at scheduled passenger ferries, pleasure boats and large ships plying the Sevastopol Bay. Both in the area of Nakhimov Square and on the embankment there are many offers for the sale of excursions and boat trips. A few meters from the pier is the pier of the sea station, from where, if desired, you can swim, for example, to Yalta or just to the other (northern) side of Sevastopol Bay.
